New year, New Opportunity - resolutions

Most of us make resolutions and most of them we fall short or give up. I have learned resolutions are soon forgotten. I would rather look back at the last year and learn from the year's experiences and move in this year with a desire to renew my commitments to life and health.
Last year I went through health problems and injuries that slowed my fitness and health goals. There were definite set backs in that I could not walk for a while and even put on weight. I rebounded with physical therapy and medical help and got back on the saddle in both walking and eating habits. I look at that as a victory.
One thing that helped me was I continued my studies in the Life of Christ from a walker's point off view. I continued my over all health studies. I learned that we can go through health problems and heal and return to routines of walking and eating moderately and healthy. I believe if I am granted more years I will face health setbacks. What I learned last year was not everything goes right and we still can recover.
Last year I put into my routines core exercises, push ups and squats and light weights or dumbbells and increased my strength training. In my rehab I did work at stretching and helped deal with pain. So moving forward this year walking, stretching and weight training will be part of my program 5 to 6 days a week. Some weeks 7 I am sure.
I know we just began 2011 and I can report 2 days workouts indoors weights, core and walking. 363 days to go. My experiences tell me I will have difficulties but I am convinced I can bounce back. I don't think I can experience the losses of Job or severe loss of health due to injury or disease. I believe I have my limits and can fail but of the aches and pains I ave had I can recover.
Look back, learn, and move ahead. I definitely believe in asking God for help and strength and with each new day we can choose a walk, a healthy meal, time spent with a friend, and time spent with God. We can choose life, keep walking.
