There are lots of ways to strength train. You can go to the gym or at home. Weights, calisthenics, bands, home machines or even cans and bottles can be used.

Calisthenics - no equipment except what is around you.
- push ups - off the toes or knees. You even do these off the wall.
- pull-ups - at a gym weight can be added to allow you to do a set. On my total gym I can do pull ups with as much of 60% of my body weight.
- dips - can be done off a chair or bench
- sit-ups and crunches - I like doing sit-ups on my total gym or from my bed with my feet on the ground.
- squats - from a chair or your back to a walk or getting up off the bed.
- Lunges - use a chair for support
- Shadow box or shadow kick boxing
- Jumping jacks

Use of Bands - 10 to 25 dollars expence. They have bands for a real intence workout. The sky is the limit with bands. You can do every exercise in a gym with your band at home. Both bands and calisthenics can travel with you.

With your band will come illustrated workout routine you can follow. Online there are lots of ideas. Check out Real Age.
No doubt I would have to be the worse exercise model ever. But that proves my point, real people can get healthier doing these things. Granted I may get thinner, I have had a net loss of 40 lbs. But I have also regained strength and I am more flexible.
Band resisitance is light to a hundred lbs. Great for vacations. With my falling, resistance training will keep my bones stronger longer. We don't live in a perfect world. Building muscle and bones when I get older gives me more time. Keep walking
