The link is to a video of a 100 year old woman Sofie Kaczan in England who survived Nazi prisons. She is walking rather well for 100 going to church. On the way the video through a reflection of a window shows a man getting out of his car. When I think about aging well, no older person should die at the hands of a thug. The criminal got 15 years because of a probable manslaughter conviction. Probably he will get out of prison on probation. One news article reported she got a broken neck from the attack.
What followed her release from the hospital her health broke down and she got pneumonia that led to her passing away. The stressors of the attack and injuries clearly led to her death. The reality is she suffered much because of the attack and robbery.
This was no kid that did this. He was forty years old. Looking at the video there was little she could do from this ambush. The attack was swift and what ever resistance she may have done doesn't explain the injuries, a few dollars for a drug habit.
When she was in her early 20's Nazi's put her in Concentration Camp. 80+ years later she suffers again with violent crime. Probably the justice system believes justice was served. I am sure there was great care in the court to protect the thugs rights.
Cameras led to his capture otherwise the crime would never see any justice in this life. Somehow a few years served with probation doesn't match the suffering the woman endured.
For her part she was walking to church. Her gate looked strong. She was living with independence and lived to 100. Most of us won't even come close to this.
There is nothing I can say she did wrong. The thug is to blame.

Ambushes can happen to any of us. Senior services should train advocates to represent
elderly people attacked with violence in court. Lawyers won't do this. They are just a victim, especially if they die. The focus shifts on the criminals rights. We are too civilized to actually see the ugliness of what happened. My opinion the scales of justice favor violent people. In the video you will see some of injuries. The thug has none. I won't post her injuries but they are awful.
